Overview
A salary quoted in a currency says little about a life. Market Intelligence converts pay into what it buys.
Capability
What it shows
For each country, the salary as quoted sits beside what is left after tax and rent, adjusted for local prices.
Countries are ranked both ways and the gap between the two rankings is shown, because it is often the whole story: a country can fall several places once tax, rent and prices are counted.
Safeguards
Every figure is researched, checked for consistency before it is kept, and labelled by how well it is sourced, so a reader can tell a well-documented number from an estimate. Figures are refreshed over time, and only meaningful changes are reported, so noise does not read as news.
Why it is hard
Pay, tax, rent and prices are published in different places, in different currencies and at different times, and they rarely agree. Turning them into one comparison a person can act on means being plain about what is known and what is estimated.
